Our hearts bleed for Maui and the devastation and loss the community has and continues to endure. Maui and it's people have held a piece of my heart since I lived there 18 years ago, which is why I created the Maui Adventure - to share it's magic and spirit of aloha with my friends. But now Maui needs time to grieve, recover, and heal. So we are postponing November 2023’s trip until they are fully ready to receive visitors, however long it takes - TBD ❤️🩹 In the meantime, please keep this trip on your radar, or click the button below to sign up for our waitlist so you’re notified as soon as we resume.

Why Maui?
Maui is often referred to as the “golden child” of the Hawaiian archipelago. From volcanoes and rainforests to waterfalls and colorful sand beaches, it’s the epitome of the perfect paradise. Maui has more than earned its reputation as No Ka Oi (The Best). Here’s why: the island has the most natural diversity, with the highest concentration and variety of exotic Hawaiian landscapes. This includes white, black, and red sand beaches; jungles, rainforests, high mountains, lavascapes, and more within 17 climate zones (no, that’s not a typo!) …and most of it is accessible! Essentially, Maui is like taking all the Hawaiian Islands and throwing them in a blender, making it ideal for a first-time visit to the islands or for repeat offenders. There is so much vibrant color with stunning and rare varieties of flowers and flowering trees that thrive here, the consistent presence of rainbow prisms across the sky, and the bluest blue of the Pacific. And we’ve yet to touch on it’s richness in Polynesian culture and tradition, abundance of marine life (who doesn’t love the adorable green sea turtle?), and mouthwatering cuisine. Don’t be shy, it’s okay to daydream about the buttery smooth Maui avocados, sweet and aromatic mangoes, organic produce, free-range meats, and ‘oh-so-fresh’ seafood that Maui offers island-style foodies and culinary enthusiasts. It’s no wonder that Maui attracts visitors from all over the world and has been voted "Best Island in the U.S." by Condé Nast Traveler readers for more than 20 years.
Activities Included
Snorkel or SCUBA Experience
Maui is just as beautiful under water as it is above it! Heighten your senses with the energy of crisp, blue Pacific waters. View beautiful coral gardens and swim amongst “honu” (sea turtles) and an abundance of marine life. Our private boat charter escorts us to several locations with the day’s best snorkeling conditions. The boat is spacious, smooth, and comfortable so you will enjoy the ride while feasting your eyes on the beauty of Maui and it’s surrounding islands from the ocean. This adventure also features a floating island for lounging, playing or drift snorkeling! Have you always wanted to SCUBA dive? There’s a SCUBA add on for certified and non-certified divers through a “Discover SCUBA Diving Experience.” Life really may be better, down where it’s wetter, under the sea!
Surf Lesson
Learn to surf where it all began, in the Polynesian islands of Hawaii! You’re in good hands with our professional instructor, Maui local, and super star athlete, Austin Kalama. A waterman by skill and by blood, growing up on the island of Maui as a 4th generation Hawaiian waterman and oldest son of legendary Dave Kalama, Austin triumphs nearly any type of wave riding or water craft, and knows Maui waves like the back of his hand. Working in the hospitality for years as an eco tour guide and instructor, he is experienced in teaching the ancient art and sport of he’e nalu (sliding the waves)! We’ll choose the day’s best spot on southwest Maui, known for its gentle conditions and perfect waves for learning so you can successfully feel the glide. But it comes with a warning… surfing can be highly addictive! #ridethewave
Road to Hana
A winding, scenic highway to East Maui with breathtaking views around every turn. The Road to Hana reveals stunning waterfalls all along the way, with 59 one-way bridges to cross them. Sit back and enjoy the ride with a visually thrilling palette of colors rarely seen elsewhere, as the road is enveloped by lush tropical rainforest with hundreds of exotic plant species. Hana’s rain forest is very unique, and one of the richest throughout Hawaii’s islands regarding species variety and natural resources. Because of its exceptional beauty and floral diversity, it was as prized a place to live during ancient times, just as it is today. We’ll take time to enjoy the journey with many stops along the way, visiting waterfalls with natural pools for swimming; black, red, and white sand beaches; Wainapanapa State Park with lava arches and blowholes; ancient coastal villages; and local roadside stands with Hawaiian culinary delights, tropical flowers and fruits.
Ohana-Style Cookout
All events of importance called for a feast in ancient Hawaiian times. Births, marriages, reunions …every high point in their life was signaled by a luau. These days, luaus have become quite touristy, but their significance and tradition still hold strong. As travelers, not tourists, it is important to us to spend time immersing in local culture. With this in mind and to celebrate our epic adventure together, we have partnered with local friends to bring you an authentic, ohana (family) style dining experience. We will eat what our friends have caught and harvested locally that day for an oh-so-fresh sea to table dinner. And plenty of time to relax outdoors and talk story.
Haleakala Volcano and Downhill Bike Ride
An exhilarating experience you’ll remember for a lifetime. Towering over the island of Maui and visible from just about any point, Haleakala Crater is a force of nature in every sense. At 10,000 feet high, this dormant volcano is the stage for a breathtaking range of landscapes—and skyscapes. We’ll begin this excursion with a vehicle trek up Crater Road, high above the clouds, and switchback our way into Haleakala National Park. Here we’ll explore the Mars-like red desert and rock garden environment, including endangered blooming ahinahina (silversword) and nene (Hawaiian goose), the state bird. Then, starting at 6500 feet, we’ll cruise down the mountain on top-of-the-line bikes, descending the green slopes through the scent of eucalyptus trees. We’ll pass through small upcountry communities of Kula and Makawao, stopping for lunch with a bird’s eye view of the whole island, and eventually ending in the historic North Shore town of Haiku. After we’ll relax in the colorful, rustic surf town of Pa’ia with drinks, pupus (appetizers), and boutique shops.
SUP & Snorkel
Elevate your well-being with the mental, emotional, and physical therapeutic benefits of paddling! Learn to Stand Up Paddleboard (or brush up on technique) with pro instructor, Jessica Cichra. Gliding atop crystal clear water and from our standing vantage point, we can easily spot all the sea creatures thriving in the reef beneath the surface! Paddle with green sea turtles, rays, loads of tropical fish, and more. And the view of West Maui’s gorgeous coastline from above the surface is equally as stunning. Surely a memory in the making!
Beach Yoga
Just to bliss you out a little more, we’ll practice yoga on the beach at golden hour. Set the tone for your whole adventure by dropping into the present moment and aligning your body, mind and spirit. Breathe in the salty air and restore and rejuvenate your body. Let peace and relaxation wash over you with the sound of waves lapping rhythmically against the shore, and a picturesque view of the sun setting behind the island of Lanai. No experience required, class is designed for all levels.
Outrigger Canoe Paddling
Outrigger canoeing is not only the official Aloha state team sport but a rich historical reminder that to live in Hawaii is to know and respect the ocean. No other culture in history has such a strong and intertwined existence with the ocean. Step back in time during this ancestral activity, born out of necessity for fishing and transport, which then spawned racing by Hawaiian chiefs for sport and recreation. We’ll learn how to paddle wa`a's (canoes) in the sparkling waters off Ka’anapali Beach. Paddling as a team to the outer reef and along the coastline, we’ll likely encounter large green sea turtles, and potentially see dolphins and rays! We are extremely careful to respect the creatures who inhabit these waters, creatures recognized by the Hawaiians as na aumakua (family gods), the living embodiment of their na kupuna (ancestors).
Your Ultimate Vacation
Our planned activities above are just the beginning of many offerings in Maui and you may do as many or as little as you like. Our hotel is conveniently located so it’s easy to be independent and do as your heart desires. We are walking distance from boutique shops, 5-star restaurants, ocean-front tiki bars, and world-famous Ka’anapali beach. Play a round on a world-class golf course and charter a fishing boat. Or simply relax with your toes in the sand and a tropical cocktail in hand. Read a book on your lanai, take a dip in the pool, or treat yourself to a massage. Lahaina town is just a 5 minute ride away with tons of establishments, parks, historic sites, and the harbor. This is your vacation - you can have whatever you like!

Your Guide
"I have been traveling to Hawaii since 2005, when I took a summer job after college. The natural beauty, lifestyle, and culture stole my heart and 3 months turned into a life-changing 2 years. I worked as a tropical flower farmer and in my free time I hiked, snorkeled, and SCUBA’d every inch of this incredible dot in the Pacific. As an avid traveler, who’s explored many places, I can testify that Maui is something special, a spiritual destination that will fill your soul. It’s what keeps pulling me back and why I’ve chosen to develop an adventure here for like-minded people. Our journey elevates well being and consciousness and that’s why we do it again and again, in the spirit of L-I-V-I-N!." - Jessica Cichra, your experienced guide and certified instructor. She has led many adventure travel trips domestically and internationally since 2012.

* Maui (and all of the Hawaiian Islands) have a hefty tax on hospitality to support their economy and residents. This helps them survive on their small, isolated island in the middle of the Pacific where most everything is imported. With tourism being the highest source of income, they mandate 3 separate taxes that add up to 17.4%. In addition is a widely used 2.5% fee that companies charge upon booking. None of these taxes or fees are visible in listing prices or advertisements and you will never see them until you actually book or request an "inclusive cost." This obviously drives up our trip cost much higher than any other domestic or international trip we've organized. Please rest assured that through our diligent research, local connections, and the power of our group numbers, you are getting more value than what you can achieve if booking a comparable trip on your own.

FAQ’s
Why travel with Wave of Wellness?
We cater to guests who don’t have the time/desire to organize a fully planned vacation, who want the most bang for their buck and best value for their time, an experience that enhances all areas of well being, and a supportive group of (vetted) like-minded travelers to learn from, be inspired by, and make lifelong memories with. We carefully craft the schedule to ensure you’re getting the most out your time, the least crowds, and ideal conditions. We hand select each activity, guide, and chefs/restaurants so you can be confident you’re getting the crème de la crème of the area and the experiences it offers. We’ve developed strong relationships with our vendors and may therefore offer you VIP treatment at a better price than if you pieced it together yourself. We design every life-affirming adventure to empower our guests; facilitate growth and connection to nature, community, and self; and to leave feeling soul-full.
We are travelers, not tourists - and our trips are designed with this intention in mind. Travel evokes open mindedness and cultivates growth. We give back to, respect, and learn from the beings and places we visit, adapting to their culture instead of trying to force our own. And our small group environment fosters non-judgement, support, and builds deep bonds of connection. Our journeys elevate well-being and consciousness and that’s why we do it again and again, in the spirit of L-I-V-I-N!.
I’m a solo traveler - may I still join?
Of course, we host lots of solo travelers. If you don’t want a private room we will pair you with another awesome adventurer of the same gender. Often these roommate pairings are the beginning of a lasting friendship. Or, if you find a friend to come with, we’ll give you $50 off. Traveling in a mindful, small group environment builds deep bonds, faster than any situation we’ve ever encountered. Our participants quickly become a tribe - so you may show up solo, but you’ll leave with a family.
I’m older - is this trip for me?
Absolutely! We celebrate diversity - it’s how we really connect and learn from each other - which is a big piece of our adventures! Often our older guests inspire our younger guests, showing them adventure lasts a lifetime, and are empowered themselves by continuing to try new things. Activities may be modified to suit you when possible (just ask) and remember, all of the activities are included, but it’s your vacation - you may opt out whenever you want.
May we bring our kids?
We love kiddos and all of our trips are offered as private bookings for families with kids under 18. Private bookings are on your schedule and up to 10 people - perfect for a large family or 2 small families (please inquire about availability and rates). Our public trips are for adults 18 years and older.
I don’t know how to stand up paddleboard - is this trip for beginners?
Yes! We have experienced, certified, and quality instructors to teach you. We’ve successfully taught many beginners to paddleboard, practice yoga, snorkel, surf, and much more! Our supportive group environment makes for a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable learning experience. Our trips encourage stepping outside of your comfort zone to feel alive and empowered. Plus, how cool will it be to say you learned to stand up paddle in Maui?!
My friend wants to come, but isn’t into some of the activities, is that ok?
Although we have a fine balance of action and downtime, we have plenty of guests who prefer to kick back and relax the entire time. We honor what you want to do on your vacation and respect you for doing just that. We also make sure our accommodations offer the perfect space for relaxation and independence. And, we have lots of alternatives to activities, like boating or walking instead of paddling, etc. Just ask and we’ll fill you in on the ways we may customize your ultimate vacation.
